Dr. David Pak, D.O.
Primary Care – Internal Medicine
Dr. David Pak is a Board Certified Internal Medicine Physician with over 25 years of experience in direct patient care. He is the founder of Pak Medical Group, co-founder of the groundbreaking Zenith Independent Physician Network, and powerhouse behind many cutting-edge medical innovations.
Prior to opening Pak Medical Group in New Braunfels, TX, Dr. Pak enjoyed a long career of patient care, innovation, and business development. He was founder of Allied Institute of Medicine in San Antonio, TX, Regional Medical Director at Concentra Primary Care in San Antonio, TX, founder of Pak Medical Group and President of the Kaua’i Medical Association in Kaua’i, HI, and Medical Director at the Culinary Health Center in Las Vegas, NV before finally returning home to Texas where he opened the doors to New Braunfel’s beloved Pak Medical Group. Most recently, Dr. Pak partnered with Innovista Health Solutions to co-found the Zenith Independent Physician Network, a network of primary care physicians that work to improve patient care and outcomes by ensuring each patient receives the right care, at the right time, and at the right place. Dr. Pak believes, “We all need to come together to elevate the level of health and wellness in the communities that we serve.”
Dr. Filomeno Gonzalez, M.D.
Primary Care – Family Practice
Dr. Filomeno Gonzalez Jr. attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics. After completing his deployment in Germany as a Captain in the Field Artillery, he pursued his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX. Specializing in Family Medicine, he later completed his residency from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and also earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Nebraska in Omaha, NE.
Dr. Gonzalez is Board Certified and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice. He has practiced medicine in New Braunfels, TX for over ten years and plans to continue his passion of providing excellent care and practicing preventive rather than reactive medicine. He is driven to make a positive change in healthcare delivery for seniors and looks forward to partnering with you to optimize your health care needs.
Dr. L. D’Laine Westmoreland, D.O.
Primary Care – Family Medicine
Dr. Westmoreland is a native-born Texan, who was blessed to have been raised rurally in Central Texas. After graduating with honors at Southwest Texas State University, she taught elementary school for 4 years, before deciding to go on to medical school. Graduating from medical school in Iowa, she learned to greatly appreciate the warmer weather of Texas and thus returned to finish her residency program at John Peter Smith Hospital in Ft. Worth, Texas.
She is well trained in minor skin procedures, joint injections, trigger point injections and is passionate about preventive medicine and obesity management. Her DO training has helped her to become an excellent listener and diagnostician for her patients.
In her spare time, she loves to read, garden, paint and spend time with her 2 beautiful daughters.
Dr. Anthony Bienek, D.O.
Primary Care – Internal Medicine
Dr. Anthony Bienek was born and raised in San Antonio, TX. After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Texas at San Antonio in San Antonio, TX where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Dr. Bienek attended medical school at Touro University School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX.
Dr. Bienek’s passion is to provide high-quality medical care in order to keep his patients healthy so they can enjoy their lives. When not seeing patients, Dr. Bienek enjoys art, history, and spending time with his wife and three sons. Dr. Bienek looks forward to meeting you and guiding you to your optimal health.
Dr. Brien Wofford, D.O.
Primary Care – Family Practice
Dr. C. Brien Wofford was born and raised in New Braunfels, TX. He graduated from the University of North Texas Health Science Center -TCOM in 1999, then later completed his residency in Family Practice in Fort Worth, TX and has been practicing medicine in New Braunfels, TX ever since – for over 20 years.
Dr. Wofford enjoys spending time with his wife Joanne and five children. Dr. Wofford is excited to be a part of Pak Medical Group and looks forward to continuing to care for the New Braunfels, TX community.
Dr. John Stanhope, D.O.
Primary Care – Family Practice
Dr. John Stanhope was born and raised in Maine, where he earned his Bachelor’s in Biology from the University of Southern Maine. He later graduated with a D.O. in Medicine from Kansas City college of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Stanhope was in the United States Air Force Reserves from 1974-1980. While he was a member of the USAF, he completed his flexible internship at the Osteopathic Hospital of Maine, then went on to the General Surgery Osteopathic Hospital of Maine. Following that, he was a flight surgeon in Dyess AFB hospital in Abeline, TX and later the USAF hospital at Loring AFB in Limestone, Maine. He was honorably discharged as a Major in 1984.
After leaving the USAF, Dr. Stanhope completed a year at Anesthesiology Osteopathic Hospital of Maine, then went on to the York hospital in York, Maine to work as an emergency room physician. After his time at York hospital, Dr. Stanhope practiced occupational medicine at the Osteopathic Hospital of Maine and later practiced family health, addiction medicine, and Osteopathic Manipulative therapy with various practices from 1991 to 2021.
Dr. Stanhope is now happily a part of Pak Medical Group – located in our San Marcos clinic. Dr. Stanhope is delighted to bring his expertise in internal medicine to the San Marcos community. Dr. Stanhope lives in Cibolo with the love of his life, Elaine. He enjoys spending time with their four children and grandchildren.
Dr. James Bartay, MD
Dr. James Bartay was born in Bellville, Texas. He attended the University of Texas in Austin, and UT Medical School at Houston, graduating in 1981. He completed a family practice residency at Central Texas Medical Foundation in Austin, Texas. He has practiced in Harlingen, Texas for 4 years with Su Clinica Familiar paying back his Health professions scholarship. While in Harlingen, his two children were born. He then relocated to a private practice in Hallettsville, Texas. He moved to New Braunfels in 1994 and has had a private practice since then. He moved to Pak Medical in November of 2022. He served as Chief of Staff of McKenna Memorial Hospital in 2000. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine and has a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Geriatrics. Dr. Bartay most enjoys the long term relationships he has with his patients. He has many multi-generational families in his practice.
Dr. Clay Buchanan, MD
Dr Buchanan is married and between his wife, Julie, and him, they have 7 kids. He has 3 dogs, including his Corgi, Sassenach, and a cat they rescued from the side on the road. His main hobby is competing in Highland Games at Scottish festivals. His daughter, Annie, has now started to compete as well. He is also the Regent SE Texas of the Clan Buchanan Society International. As such he convenes tents at festivals around Texas.
Dr. Lori Hickson, MD
Dr. Lori Hickson is a board certified Internal Medicine physician. She has over 20 years’ experience and has been practicing in New Braunfels since 2012. She is excited to be joining Pak Medical Group in November 2022.
Dr. Hickson attended medical school at Chicago Medical School and completed her Internal Medicine Residency Program at Northwestern Medical Center in Chicago. She had previously practiced in Phoenix, Arizona where she grew up and in Newport Beach, California for 10 years before relocating to Texas with her 2 children. She and her family really enjoy living in New Braunfels and being a part of the growing community.
Dr. Hickson takes quality care of her patients by building relationships with them over time and is looking forward to being able to offer them a team approach to healthcare. She wants to continue to empower patients to be involved and take control of their health. As an internist she specializes in caring for adult patients with complex chronic medical conditions as well as acute issues, and post hospital care as well as preventative care.
Will Diaz, NP
Will is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner. He received his Masters of Science in Nursing from Walden University. He has been in the nursing field since 2006 in various fields. As a Nurse Practitioner, he has worked in family practice managing chronic conditions and promoting health wellness.
Darcy Sammons, NP
Darcy obtained her undergraduate degree at George Mason University and attended graduate school at Georgetown University. She has experience in adult hematology and oncology and 15 years’ experience in the hospice field. She has 4 children to include adult twins. She is an avid runner and CrossFit fanatic along with enjoying marathons, Spartans and Tough Mudder.
Timothy Hunt, PA-C
PA Hunt was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and attended UTSA and then UT Health San Antonio. He graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science in 2004 and worked in the fields of oncology, wound care and ENT research. He was accepted into the Physician Assistant program at UT Health in 2010 and was president of his graduating class. Upon completion of his Master’s of Physician Assistant studies in 2013, PA Hunt has continued to work in South Texas in internal medicine and primary care.
He believes in a whole health approach when treating patients and loves to educate patients and PA students. PA Hunt is married to his college sweetheart and has two children. He enjoys outdoor activities, playing guitar and spending time with his family.
Kristen Gathright, PA-C
Kristen Gathright is a certified Physician Assistant who grew up in Austin, TX. She received her undergraduate degree in Human Biology from the University of Texas in Austin. She then attended the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, TX where she received her Masters Degree in Physician Assistant Studies. During her clinical rotations, Kristen spent multiple rotations gaining experience in dermatology, general plastic surgery and head and neck reconstructive surgery.
Prior to joining Pak Medical Group, Kristen practiced Dermatology in Austin, TX where she developed a passion for surgical/non-surgical skin cancer removal, skin cancer screenings, and general and cosmetic dermatology. Kristen treats a variety of skin conditions including, but not limited to, skin cancer, rashes, psoriasis, acne, and general aging concerns. She is certified by the National Commission of Certification for Physician Assistants and is licensed by the Texas Medical Board. Outside of work, Kristen enjoys live music, fishing on the Texas coast and hanging out with her dachshund, Brody.
Chad Roasa, PA-C
Chad Roasa is a certified Physician Assistant through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and has been delivering quality care to patients since 2011. Chad earned his Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree from the University of Nebraska following the successful completion of an Interservice PA Program (IPAP). Chad began his practice as a US Air Force PA. He primarily focused on providing care for active-duty military from all branches of service, their families, and military retirees. Chad also served as Associate Professor at IPAP where he taught and mentored the next generation of military PAs. Following 20 years of a combination of enlisted and commissioned service in the USAF, he was able to retire and join the Pak Medical Group in June 2021.
Chad and his wife, Jamie, their four children, and their pets, have been living in the San Antonio metro area since 2016. They have enjoyed the various festivals, amusement parks, food, and outdoor activities our community has to offer. He enjoys working at Pak Medical Group and aims to create individualized treatment plans for each of his patients in order to maintain their best level of health possible through the prevention of disease, treatment of active illness, performance of in-office minor procedures, and prescription of medications when necessary.
Christina Mortenson, FNP-C
Christina Mortenson is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and maintains board certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with the Texas Board of Nursing. She graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos, TX with her Master of Science in Nursing FNP. She is a proud member of the AANP, TNP and HCNP. Christina believes in a holistic healing approach stemming from collaboration between herself and her patients.
Christina was born and raised in Corpus Christi, TX. She enjoys gardening and visiting Texas state parks with her family and their German Shephard, Trooper. She recommends getting outdoors – visit McKinney State Park for biking, Blanco State Park for swimming and water activities, and various other Texas state parks for hiking trails.
Natalie Baiamonte, FNP-C
Natalie Baiamonte is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and member of the AANP. She received her Master’s Degree in Nursing Education from Grand Canyon University. Natalie spent some time teaching future nurses at Galan College of Nursing, then later decided to go back to school and earn her Post Master’s Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Kaplan University. Natalie has been a nurse for more than 30 years and has experience working in the ICU, ER, Cardiac Cath Lab, and Electrophysiology.
In her spare time, Natalie enjoys sewing, quilting, hunting, and fishing. She believes that educating her patients helps them to take control of their own health in collaboration with their Primary Care Provider.
Sinead (Shy) Healey, AGANCP
Shy Healey graduated from Syracuse University in 2003 and soon after commissioned as a nurse in the Army. After four years of serving as an ICU nurse, she became a flight nurse in the Air Force Reserves. She and her family moved several times during their careers including being stationed in Hawaii. While on Oahu, she attended Hawaii Pacific University and earned her Master’s in Nursing with a focus on Adult Geriatric Acute Care.
In November of 2020, Shy joined Pak Medical Group to lead our senior facility house call program. She ensures our patients receive excellent care in the comfort of their own homes. Shy also continues to serve as nurse in the Air Force Reserves. She and her family love to frequent the drive-in movies and spend time biking at local greenways.
Megan Forsberg, AGPCNP-BC
Megan graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports and Exercise Science in 2005. She returned to school to ear her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from South Dakota State University in 2009. Megan worked as an ICU nurse for seven years while earning her Master’s degree in Nursing. She is now a board certified Adult and Gerontology Primary Care provider.
Megan works for our House Call program, allowing seniors to receive quality care at home. She and her family enjoy spending time with family and friends, watching movies, and watching both football and hockey.
Anne Shackelford, NP
Anne Shackelford is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. In 1991 she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from UT Health Science Center. She worked as an RN in labor and delivery, school nursing and the emergency room prior to going back to school. She received her Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner in 2009 from Texas Tech University. Anne is very excited to be part of Pak Medical Group and enjoys working and living in this New Braunfels community.
In her free time Anne enjoys spending time with her family. She has 3 children and several grandbabies as well as several fur babies.
