Medicare Wellness Exams – what to expect
During your annual Medicare Wellness Exam, you will be asked to fill out a Health Risk Assessment (HRA). This assessment will provide insight into any concerns you, or we, may have and help guide our discussion during your visit. We will then perform a routine physical exam to make sure your heart, lungs, and other systems are functioning properly. Basic measurements will also be taken including height, weight, blood pressure, and other vital information. We will discuss your medical history, family medical history, and review the list of your current medications. Please be sure to bring this list with you to your appointment.
Medicare Wellness Exams are also a great opportunity to discuss your daily activities and eating or exercise habits. This allows us to discuss any possible recommendations or steps you can take to help improved your health and quality of life. Annual Medicare Wellness Exams may uncover other aspects of your health or medical management that may be overlooked during a non-exam appointment. That is one reason why it is important to schedule these exams regularly to ensure we are staying on top of any changes in your health.
